Obituary of Dragica “Dorothy” Orescanin
ORESCANIN, Dragica “Dorothy" nee Milic (1928 – 2018)
Surrounded by her loving family on March 20, 2018, our beloved mother, in her 90th year, passed on to her next journey after a long fight, which she faced with grace and fortitude. Daca is survived by Dragan, her loving husband of 70 years, son, Dan (Karen), daughter, Mary (Charlie), and son, Michael (Sue). As well, she leaves behind her grandchildren, Tamara (Jeff) and Jacob. She is predeceased by her parents (Stojan and Stana Milic), her brothers (Djuro and Milan), her sisters (Ljubica and Mara), her Aunt Ljubica and cousins (Rudy and Mirko). Daca was a loving mother, a devoted wife and a doting grandmother, a member of the Circle of Serbian Sisters (Kolo Srpskije Sestara Kraljica Marija) for many years. Along with her husband, she worked tirelessly to raise funds in Canada and the United States for the restoration of Sveti Nikola Church in her hometown (Blatusa, Croatia), which had been destroyed in World War II. Cremation has taken place and a private family celebration of her life will be arranged at a later date. Mama was much loved and will live in our hearts forever. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to Miriam from CBI, Dr. Boyd and all the wonderful and caring nurses and staff at St. Joseph’s Villa. In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome any donations to St. Joseph’s Villa, St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Cathedral on Nash Road or the charity of your choice.
