Obituary of June Duncan
DUNCAN, June
June passed away peacefully in her 92nd year at St. Peter’s Palliative Care facility on February 15, 2018 from complications arising from recent medical issues that were adversely and severely impacting her quality of life. Beloved mother of Rob and Dave, loving mother-in-law of Céline and Sue, much loved grandma of Brett (Christine), Kristina, Katherine and Spence, and caring aunt of Larry, Kathryn, John, Ann Loraine, Peter, Phil and Marsha. Her grandchildren and Christine happily became the primary focus in her life in recent years and she was extremely proud of their academic and life achievements and always supported their endeavours and really enjoyed conversing with them, catching up and shopping for clothes. Special thanks to Jean Willis for her close friendship and caring emotional support in recent years and her long-time Fergus friends Glad Aitken and Helen Atkinson. Special thanks also to Mark and his staff at Lakeview Retirement Centre who are incredibly diligent, caring and compassionate to all of their occupants. Mom really enjoyed her time there. We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Beth and the nursing staff at St. Peter’s for making our mother’s stay there so restful and peaceful. They are unbelievably focused on providing intelligent medical care for their patients with great compassion and empathy for the patients and very importantly also for the visiting relatives there under very challenging circumstances. Mom was predeceased by her husband Ed, the true enduring love of her life, in 2010 after 61 years of blissful marriage, and by her sisters Joyce, Inez and an unnamed twin at birth. Our parents had a wonderful shared life together and enjoyed many long-term friendships and the good times that always occurred in the many get-togethers. Their annual Myrtle Beach extended vacations were always a highlight event. She had a wonderful life for most of her time and was a very giving person - her family and large number of close friends are testimony to that. She was a long-time member of the Stoney Creek United Church and women’s unit there. Please donate to the charity of your choice if you are so inclined. Cremation has taken place and there will be a small celebration of life at a later date. Notes of sympathy and condolence may be left at www.donaldvbrown.ca
