ECCLES, Dorothy Florence (nee Riley)
Peacefully passed away at St. Peter’s Hospital, on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 surrounded by her loving family, in her 89th year. Beloved wife of the late William (Bill) Eccles, dear friend of the late John Sim. Cherished mother of David (Tim Stephens) and daughter Donna (Paul Officer). Proud Grandmother of Stephen, Heather, Lesley and grand-dog Paisley. Predeceased by her parents Jim and Florence and the Riley sisters Marjorie, Muriel and Ruth. She will be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whose lives she touched with love, laughter and her sense of humour. Dorothy was a retired employee of the Government of Canada and a long time member of the Anglican Church of the Nativity choir. A special thanks to all who cared for mom especially the St. Peter’s 3 West Palliative Care Team and long time caregiver Edith Augstman for their sincere care and compassion. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Anglican Church of the Nativity, 1831 King Street East, Hamilton on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. with a reception to follow. The family will receive family and friends in the chapel one hour prior to the service. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Anglican Church of the Nativity Memorial Fund, the Alzheimer's Society of Canada or the Canadian Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
