My deepest condolences and sympathies Penny. I read Ians' web site about the Empress of Ireland. While reading the about page I realized the Penny he was talking about was you. After a few more searches I saw the news story about your tribute dive. That was truly inspirational and definitely the right way to celebrate your soulmates life. I continued to read and discovered you had much to celebrate with Ian. I still have my brothers fins and sometimes dive with them and celebrate the person that inspired me. I am sure that with each dive you do you will celebrate Ian too. From what I read, Ian inspired and was loved by many people.

I am conveying my deepest sympathies to Penney, and family and friends. I was privileged to have met Ian back in the 1980's when we were members of the Cormorant Scuba Club in Montreal. He both tutored and mentored me for many years as a scuba diver. As a result I became a much better diver, instructor and finally Master Instructor. And I was in contact with Ian prior to his Newfondland trip. Farewll dear friend. I will surely miss your diving stories and freindship. It was disbelief and a feeling of deep sorrow to lose yet another friend. I have been privileged through my businesses to have met many wonderful people from around the world. Having spent nearly an hour ( as I recall ) speaking with Ian via telephone only just over a month ago and to get news of his passing at far too early an age comes as quite a shock. I will forever remember Ian for his enthusiasm of History, diving, friendships, animals, but especially for the love of his life, Penny. Their love was deep and profound. Ian lived on his own terms and lived passionately and he will be missed by many. I was honoured to call him a friend and was blessed to spend time with him sharing stories and laughter.
