Obituary of Tryphena Frances Porritt
Tryphena Frances “FRAN” Porritt
“It is not the years in your life, but the life in your years that counts”
Fran passed away after a brief illness on May 29, 2017, just one week before her 90th birthday. She leaves behind many friends and family in England, Canada, and the USA. She will be missed by her beloved nephews Argo (Margaret) Ashton and Peter (Penny) Tomsett, her brother-in-law George to whom she spoke every Saturday, and other family members. She’ll be especially missed by her best friend and confidante, Linda Field.
Fran was employed all her working years in Canada as an executive secretary at Canadian Canners in Hamilton, and she enjoyed a wonderful life.
A special thank you to the doctors and nurses at Hamilton General Hospital, who made her last days as comfortable as possible, and to the wonderful neighbours in her apartment building who helped her out for many years with the little things in life.
Fran will now be with her sisters, who she missed every day, and her friend Mike, who we’re sure will have a big bowl of her favourite beef stew and dumplings waiting for her!
Cremation has already taken place. As per Fran’s wishes, a simple interment service will be held outdoors at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 700 Chapel Hill Road, Stoney Creek on Monday, June 5th at 3:00 pm.
Fran, we’re all gonna miss you!
“To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.”
