Obituary of Gabriel Joseph Louis Westermann

WESTERMANN, Gabriel

Mr. Gabriel Joseph Louis Westermann, known to friends as "Gabe”, 73, of Caistor Centre, Ontario , passed away at the McNally House Hospice  on May 4, 2017, surrounded in love . He was born in Wissembourg, France, immigrating to Hamilton, Ontario in 1968. Gabe was an extremely funny, proud and hardworking man. He loved his family and having everyone together.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, and boating. He enjoyed nature and had many fond memories of the birds him and his dad raised together.  He spent 30+ years as a Hamilton Steelworker. Gabriel is survived by his loving wife Brigitte of 53 years, Sons Michael (Angela), Richard and David (Veronica). He is also survived by his Grandchildren: Breanna, Gabriel, Jessica, Kaylee, Tayrn and Trent, as well as many loving nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by Grandson Andrew Joseph Westermann (2001). A very special thank you goes out to Dr. Amanda Marrone, family doctor at Smithville Medical Centre. Her caring and gentle ways will always be remembered. To the McNally House, thank you for allowing the end of his life's journey to be cradled in love and peace.  Friends and family will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Monday, May 8, 2017 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 3 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel.
