Obituary of Joanne (Giovanna) Pizzoferrato

PIZZOFERRATO, Joanne (Giovanna) (nee Cavallaro) After a courageous four year battle with cancer armed with her strong faith and the love of family and friends, it is with heavy hearts that we announce that Joanne passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Monday, February 6, 2017. Beloved wife to Fred for over 51 years. Predeceased by her parents, Franco and Florinda Cavallaro and daughter-in-law of the late Fortunato and Gentolina Pizzoferrato. Cherished mother to Linda (Marco) Sanelli, Joseph, Gino (Sandra) Pizzoferrato, Carole (Lawrence) Micheli, and John Paul (Nadia) Pizzoferrato. Proud Nonna to Cara, Cristina, Laryssa, Brittany, Jessica, Ethan, Lucas and Olivia. The youngest sister of Lucia (and the late Pasquale) DeStephanis, Luigi (Ivana) Cavallaro, Cesidia (and the late Claudio) Balassone, and Teresa (and the late Domenico) Pace. Dearest sister in law to John (and the late Virginia) Pizzoferrato. Joanne will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, family and friends with whom she shared many great memories. Special thanks to the following doctors for the compassionate care provided to Joanne and her family: Dr. D.M. Hastings, Dr. R. Juergens, Dr. A. Szereszewski, and their staff, CCAC and Bayshore nursing especially Nurse Anne. Our heartfelt appreciation to mom’s Pope John Paul II Rosary group est. 1984 for their prayers, devoted friendship and blessings for Joanne. Visitation will be held at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 from 6-9 p.m., Thursday, February 9, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Vigil Thursday at 8:30 p.m. Funeral Mass to be Celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 304 Highway #8, Stoney Creek on Friday, February 10, 2017 at 11 a.m. Interment at Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery. In Joanne’s memory, donations to the Juravinski Cancer Centre would be appreciated by the family.
