Obituary of Rita Marie Gahan

GAHAN, Rita (Roy) Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at the Hamilton General Hospital on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at the age of 75. Loved wife of Mike for 55 years. Cherished mother of Sally and her husband Lindsay Perry, Rita and her husband Gord Ackerman. Devoted grandma of Sarah, Megan, Brittney and Derrick. Dear sister of the late Ronnie Roy (Sylvia), Dorothy Roy, the late Betty-Ann Ellis (Truman), Jimmy Roy (Shirley), Mary-May Boucher (Donald) and the late Carmella Roy. Rita was a member of the Caledonia Women’s Auxiliary. She was full of joy, loved to laugh and play cards at the legion. Rita’s true passion was spending time with her family. She will be missed by everyone at her social events and family gatherings. Thank you to Fr. David Wilhelm and the ICU staff at the Hamilton General Hospital for all of their support and care. Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Vigil prayers 8:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated.
