Obituary of Arthur William Smith

SMITH, Arthur William “Doc” Peacefully, at West Haldimand Hospital, on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 in his 87th year. Beloved husband of the late Isobel “Ann” Smith of 50 years. Cherished father of Michael and his wife Lawrie. Devoted Papa of Tyler and Hayden. Dear brother of Barbara Reeve. Loved uncle of Lisa, Michelle, Michelle, Jane, Daniel, Christopher, Jay, Keith and the late Ron. Doc was a lifetime member and lay reader with Church of The Redeemer Our Saviour and St. John The Divine Church. He was active in the community for many years with Kinsman Service Club and had an avid love of sports; coaching and umpiring for 45 years. He had worked for over 25 years as a teacher and principal for the Wentworth County School Board. Teaching was his passion and he enjoyed celebrating every achievement of his students. Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 1 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel.
