Obituary of Blanche Germaine Meinzinger
MEINZINGER, Blanche
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Blanche Germaine Meinzinger at her home in Stoney Creek on December 31, 2016 in her 86th year. Beloved wife for 60 years of the late Vince Meinzinger (1925-2008). Blanche was born and raised in Waterloo, Ontario to Elvina and Wilfred Koch, founder of Koch Transport. Predeceased by parents, brother Harold and son Alan. Loving mother to Susan Robinson (Brent), Pamela Thorpe (Terry) and Howie Meinzinger (Susan). Devoted grandmother to Ashley Thorpe-Bauer (Dave), Hilary Thorpe (Darren), Hailey Meinzinger (Matt), Katie Robinson (Geoff), and William Meinzinger. Cherished great-grandmother of Belle and Lyla Bauer. Blanche will be sadly missed by her steadfast friend and companion, Richard Baker. Mom and Dad moved to Stoney Creek in 1961. Mom led an active life as a curler at Glendale Golf and Country Club and was an active bridge player who organized the Thursday afternoon bridge group at Glendale for many of her longtime friends over the years. She volunteered with the Canadian Cancer Society and was recognized for her dedicated years of service. Mom’s love of being surrounded by the finer things in life led to her part time job at Birk’s for many enjoyable years. She had a passion for crossword puzzles, cooking, travelling with Vince and spending time with her family. The legacy that she and Vince have left their children is the cottage at Orr Lake, where many wonderful memories were made in all seasons over the years. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Kwok, family doctor, and Dr. Hong, cardiologist at Joseph Brant Hospital. A Celebration of Life will be held at Glendale Golf and Country Club, 401 Albion Road in Hamilton on Sunday, January 8, 2017 from 1 to 4 p.m. If desired, a donation to the charity of your choice would be sincerely appreciated.
