Obituary of Reta Elizabeth Hewitt

HEWITT, Reta Elizabeth (nee Young) On Friday, December 2, 2016, Reta passed away at Orchard Terrace LTC. Born December 8, 1927, she was the beloved wife of Leonard J. Hewitt. Dear mother of Christine Mitchell (deceased), Carol Pyke (Dale), Cathy Liber (deceased) (Walter). Loving grandmother of Melanie Heaney (Gavin), Derek Mitchell, Breann Pyke (Martin Bourgeois), Colleen Nagel (Ryan), Elissa Liber, Rebecca Liber and great-grandchildren Liam, Molly, Leonard, Benjamin, Elliott, Bella, Madden. Also survived by sister-in-law Shirley Young. Predeceased by her sisters Dorothy Shannon (Ted), Norma Hoover (Wes), and brothers Oliver (Marjorie), Kenneth (Vicky), Jack Young. Predeceased by Ross Hewitt (Doris), Oscar Hewitt (Louise). Survived by many nieces and nephews. Reta enjoyed working and singing in the church, Olivet United, St. John, and Stoney Creek United. She loved curling (Thistle Club and Glendale) and bowling (Thistle Club and Rosedale) and especially loved family gatherings. Sincere thanks is extended by the Hewitt family to Orchard Terrace LTC for their wonderful care and comfort. Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the Funeral Service in the Chapel at 1:30 p.m. Cremation to follow.
