Obituary of Laurence Richard Whitwell

WHITWELL, Laurence Richard May 28, 1925-October 11, 2016 It is with deep sadness that the family of Richard “Dick” Whitwell announce his unexpected passing at the age of 91. Son of Roy and Irene Whitwell. Father of Joanne Baird (Gary), Paul Whitwell (Holly), Cheryl Evans (John), and Darlene MacDonald (Phil). Forever remembered by his many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Richard is survived by brother Charlie Whitwell (Sharon). He was predeceased by brothers Ross (Mona), Glen (Barb), Vern (Lorraine), and Roy (Joan). Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Richard was a car salesman at Wills Motors in Binbrook and Smithville for many years. He was a Veteran of World War II. He enjoyed fishing trips with family and friends, the Toronto Blue Jays and travelling through Canada and the United States in his motor home. He also loved rhubarb pie. Visitation will be held at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Sunday, October 16th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, October 17th at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Binbrook United Church Cemetery.
