Obituary of George Clow
CLOW, George
Passed away peacefully at The Village of Tansley Woods, Burlington, on Sunday, August 28, 2016. George was the deeply loved husband of Vera Linton in the 69th year of their marriage. He was predeceased by his parents John and Winifred Clow, by his sister-in-law Audrey Stegen and his brother-in-law George Thomas Linton. Fondly remembered by his nephews Christopher Stegen and Geoffrey Stegen and his niece Katherine Simpson and their loving families. He was born and educated in Hamilton, and attended local schools including Delta Collegiate. Moving to Burlington, soon after their marriage, George quickly became involved in the activities of the community; the Aldershot Camera Club, SPEBSQSA, and early East Plains United Church variety shows. In organized sports, he played baseball, hockey and football, but his passion was in the area of aviation. He was an early member of Canadian Warplane Heritage with ID #59 working on the Lancaster and DC3. The crew’s nearly completed Auster was destroyed in the tragic fire of August 15, 1993. George and Vera enjoyed their many jaunts in Canada and the USA, river cruising in Europe and later on the waterways of our own beautiful Ontario. George is a retired employee of Horizon Utilities Corp. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home. Cremation and a private interment to take place.
