Obituary of Pearl Lester

LESTER, Pearl (nee Quance) formerly of Elfrida (Binbrook) Peacefully in London, Ontario, with family by her side on April 30, 2016, in her 99th year. Beloved wife of the late Wesley Lester (1995). She will be forever loved and missed by their daughters Marjorie and her husband Michael Wilson of Hillsdale, ON; Sandra and her husband Harvey Anderson of Stratford, PEI; Doris Lester of London; and Verna and her husband Harry Jongerden of Harrington, ON. Loving grandmother to Derek (Loretta), Jennifer (Chris), Leslie, Patrick and Susanne (Arris). Proud great-grandmother to Logan, Maddie, Ethan, Tyler, Marco, Gabriel and Gweneth. Pre-deceased by sisters Stella Bell and Irene Lyons, and brother Neil Quance. Pearl was a faithful member of Elfrida and Trinity United Churches; and friend of Zion United Church. She was a life-long member of the UCW and member of the Ontario Bell Assoc. She taught in one-room schoolhouses from 1937 to 1946 when she married her sweetheart Wesley after the war. Pearl's first 74 years were lived on the original Quance family farm, Elfrida, before moving to Hamilton to care for Wesley. The family sincerely thanks all the caregivers at the Village of Glendale Crossing, London, and Cathie Kennedy-Rath of Comfort Keepers for their compassionate care. Special thanks as well to the staff of Participation House, York Project, Hamilton, and Jan Pope of Seniors for Seniors. Friends and family will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue, Stoney Creek on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday, May 5, 2016 from 10 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 11 a.m. Interment at Binbrook United Church Cemetery (Hwy 56 and Cemetery Road). Luncheon reception to follow at Trinity United Church. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
