Dear Family,
Word of Muriel's Homegoing reached us today, thanks to Dorothy Redinger in Hamilton.
Muriel was a very special 'Sister in the Lord' to me {Allen}, when we both served with SIM in Upper Volta, now Burkina Faso, in West Africa. She was a Godly woman and effective Nurse, opening up an entire area to the Gospel through her sacrificial service, especially to Mothers and their babies in Gourmaland.
One example: an infant with pneumonia was brought to her Medical Clinic. Lacking today's modern equipment, we were told that she personally "suctioned" out phlegm with her own mouth, spitting it out, and repeating the process....... Christian love and compassion overcoming the distasteful and repulsive........ and thereby saved the child's life !! It precipitated a cultural and spiritual breakthrough in the region !!! Today, a Bible School thrives in that Community. And despite ongoing challenges and opposition, the Church of Christ is growing, and God's Name is being glorified !
Although we served in areas separated by many miles of difficult travel, whenever I did get to see her out there, it was a blessing.
More recently, our paths crossed at the Annual Banquet for the Christian Salvage Mission, there in Hamilton. Both my wife & I really appreciated those brief moments of treasured fellowship.
We thank God for Muriel, a choice servant of the Lord !
God bless you all !
Allen & Lena Armbruster.

Muriel's life was a blessing to many. I especially remember her for her kindness and sense of humor. Because of our common SIM connection, she was especially warm to me when I came to the infirmary at Prairie - especially if I came with Bob.
