Obituary of Wasyl Dowhun

DOWHUN, Wasyl (“Bill”) Passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Hamilton, on April 1, 2016 in his 91st year with family by his side. Beloved husband of Teresa for 55 years. Loving father to Donald (Devery), Chris (Lee Ann), and Lynn (Peter) Nykilchuk. Special Dido to Sarah, Lauren, and Peter Jr. (P.J.). Bill is predeceased by his siblings Peter, Gregory, Catherine, Maria, and Anna, all of Ukraine. He was a long-time parishioner of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Parish in Hamilton, where he was also a member of the church Seniors Club, and was also a proud retiree of Stelco. Bill took great pleasure in gardening and fishing, and also loved to spend time with his grandchildren. Special thank you to the staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital for their excellent care of Bill during his stay. Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek, on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. Panachyda (Prayer Service) at 8 p.m. A service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Queenslawn Cemetery, Grimsby.
