Obituary of Sidonija Drvaric
It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our mother Sidonija, in her 83rd year, at the Hamilton General ICU on Tuesday, November 25th, 2014, following a tragic fall in her home. She slipped away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Pre-deceased, by 14 years and now re-united with her beloved husband, Frank. Dear mother to Sidonia (Robert), Joseph (Carmie) and Theresa; cherished grandmother of Luke (Lauren), Stephanie, Jacqueline, Lauren and Simon; loving great-grandmother to Chase. As a young, hopeful Slovenian immigrant in the 1950’s, she embraced her new home and was prepared to work hard for a better future. She cherished her Slovenian heritage and was a loyal member of St. Gregory the Great Parish community for over 50 years. She leaves a legacy of a successful life, well lived, with fierce independence, pride, strength and resilience. Dearly loved by her family and many friends. Her radiant smile, cheerfulness, wittiness and positive outlook that inspired a determination to live life to the fullest regardless of age or challenges will be missed by all who knew her and whose lives she touched. The family would like to thank the Hamilton General Trauma Unit and ICU for their compassionate care of our mother, especially her nurse Anita. Their empathy and kindness made our journey easier. Friends will be received at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive,Stoney Creek on Sunday, November 30, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with prayers at 8:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday December 1, 2014 at St. Gregory the Great Slovenian Church at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
