Obituary of Allan Gartly Green

Born September 18, 1930, passed away peacefully in his sleep July 11, 2014. Predeceased by his loving wife Edna (1992). Survived by his devoted daughter and caregiver Sharon Green, at home, and daughter Brenda and husband Harold Whitwell of Smithville. Also survived by his devoted grandchildren Jason Whitwell (Heather Dubois); Ryan Whitwell (Deanna) and Christie Riley (Wes). Allan enjoyed his 5 great-grand-children who knew him as “Big Papa”; Katie McGowen, Cheyenne Whitwell, Kennedy and Jackson Whitwell and Skyler Riley. Predeceased by his parents Arthur and Myrtle Green, sister Helen Green and sister Marion Robertson all of Dunnville. Also survived by his brother George (Judee) Green and Margaret Barnes. Allan was a faithful member of Cheyne Presbyterian Church in Stoney Creek. He was retired from Stelco and was a past member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and the Eastern Star. The family would like to thank the compassionate nursing staff at WLMH and Dr. Ireland. Friends will be received at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home , 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Sunday, July 13, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Cheyne Presbyterian Church on Monday, July 14, 2014 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Mountview Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Diabetes Association or Cheyne Presbyterian Church.
