Obituary of Richard Zwart

Passed peacefully into the presence of his Savior and Lord, at his home in Stoney Creek on Monday, June 1, 2015, surrounded by his family. A humble leader, man of integrity, strong character, and someone who valued his family and experiences more than things. Beloved husband and partner in prayer of Cheryl (Haggar) for 37 years. Loving Dad-e-o to Lindsay and Craig Harvey, Rachel and Alex Busch, and Joel Zwart. Cherished Papa to Leah and Kyla. Loved son of Peter and Anna Zwart and son-in-law of Phyllis and the late Ronald Haggar. Dear brother to Peter and Carol, Anita and Mike Philpott , Dave and Lynn, and Mark and Dianne. He will also be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Richard was a dedicated employee of Liftow Ltd. for 29 years. He indulged his love for all things motorized, clocking many miles with the “Wild Hogs” on his motorcycle. Al C., Craig H., Dave F., Dave Z., Doug D., Joe S., and Larry D., not in order of importance but valued as brothers in faith and friendship. The family would like to thank their church family at The Creek Community Church, Richard’s faithful homecare nurse Marion, the compassionate and caring nursing staff at the Juravinski Hospital, and family doctor Dr. Marilena Biscotti. The family would be honoured if you would join them for a service to celebrate God’s goodness and Richard’s life, on Friday, June 5, 2015 at John Knox Christian School 795 Hwy #8, Stoney Creek at 6:00 pm. Please feel welcome to stay afterwards and visit with family and friends, and refresh yourself as Richard loved to welcome and refresh others. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. Some charities close to Richard’s heart include Helping Hands Street Mission, City Kidz and Operation Christmas Child (Samaritan’s Purse).
