Obituary of Catherine Isabel Neal

Peacefully passed away, surrounded by her family, at Macassa Lodge Hamilton on Monday, May 12, 2014 at the age of 75. Beloved and dear wife of Raymond for almost 53 years. Cherished and loving mother to David (Lora), Susan Dunn (Steve). Loving and proud grandmother of Jacob and Julia. She will be dearly missed by her brothers Art (Enid), Jeff and her sister Eleanor Turner (Joe) and her several nieces. Cathy was a retired teacher with the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board and had fond memories of friends and colleagues. She always smiled when she was reminiscing about family events, CGIT, basketball, bible study groups, Livingston Camp and many activities at Cheyne Presbyterian Church. She truly treasured a life full of family and friends. The family dearly appreciated and would like to thank all those who helped make Cathy’s stay at Macassa enjoyable and comfortable, especially her long-time friend Marie Shwaluk for organizing the faithful visits with the ladies from Livingston. Special thanks for the wonderful and compassionate TLC she received from the staff on 2C East at Macassa. Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Thursday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Cheyne Presbyterian Church on Friday, May 16, 2014 at 1 p.m. Interment to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to McMaster Children’s Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
