Obituary of Arthur George Robert Linke
(1916 – 2014) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Arthur Linke, in his 98th year, on Monday April 21st, 2014. Loving husband for 57 years to Jewel (deceased April 8th, 2014). A loving father, he was a constant example of strength and determination to Gayle (William Hilson). Cherished and proud grandfather of William (Patricia), Arthur (Aimee) and Leah (Walter). Predeceased by siblings Norman and Alma (Harris). Great Grandfather to Victoria, Catherine, William, James, Ava and Ryan. Born in Hamilton, Arthur joined Dofasco in 1935 and devoted his working life to the steel industry, finishing his distinguished career as Superintendent of Galvanizing and Finishing lines. In addition Arthur acted as Chairman of the American Iron and Steel Institute for 10 years. Following retirement from Dofasco, Arthur continued his work around the world consulting for the steel industry. After his marriage to Jewel in 1957 they resided in Grimsby. In his retired years, Arthur enjoyed spending time with his family wintering in Pompano Beach, Fl, working at home in his vegetable garden, and telling stories by the fire at the family cottage. Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Wednesday, April 23rd from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, April 24th, 2014 at 1 p.m. Interment Woodland Cemetery.
