Darcy & family, Please accept my sincere and heartfelt condolences on the loss of Desi . Sometimes we get lucky and a step-parent loses the role of "step" and becomes a wonderful parent in our lives. Through the up/down, good/bad they give us love through the years that comes with being our parent. No words can take away your pain or lessen the impact Desi's death has brought. In his time of pain you prayed for his release and God answered your prayers. It is his time to sit with the angels and all those who went before him free of pain. He is looking down and doesn't want you to take on the pain he felt since he became ill. In time, I pray that many wonderful memories of the time he was a part of your life bring you as much comfort as his passing now brings you grief. Hugs to you all.

I am one of Desi's cousins and my late mother, Irene was his youngest aunt on the Desruisseaux side of the family. I would like to express my deepest sympathy to his immediate family members and friends for their loss. My parents, myself and my sister Fiona were, perhaps understandably, closest to Desi's parents- My Uncle Leon and aunt Minnie- and the Sawyerville, Quebec homestead of the Desruisseaux clan. In my youth, my cousins Betty Floyd and Norman, had already migrated to Toronto/ Hamilton area. However, on a few of happy and memorable occasions, we were able to meet as a wider family- in both Quebec and Ontario. I can see from other tributes that Desi's friends enjoyed his sense of humour, and appreciated his outgoing nature- characteristics I also richly remember. Though too young for much of our early acquaintance, I now also share his partiality for a cold beer- or two- and will raise a glass to his fond memory this Friday.

Desi was a great neighbour in the park. Always smiling and ready to have a cold beer on his deck at the end of the day. Ofcourse, a few Sambucca on occasion too. Rest in peace, my friend.
