Obituary of Irene Amelia Thorpe

Peacefully on Sunday, March 16, 2014. Beloved wife of the late James Arthur Thorpe. Irene was a wonderful mother to her two children Betty Anne and Terry (Pamela). Irene adored her grandchildren and their families Kevin (Tiffany, Kaleb, Kolby) of Barrie, Lindsay (Kim, Finnegan, Ryder) of Vancouver, Ashley (Dave, Belle, Lyla) and Hilary of Burlington. Irene was a graduate of McMaster where in addition to earning her economics degree learned the intricacies of contract bridge. This became one of Irene’s favourite pastimes. She and her late husband Jim were both avid curlers and long standing members of Glendale Golf and Country Club. Special thank you to the staff at Clarion Nursing Home. Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home , 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Tuesday from 7 – 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Stoney Creek United Church (King St. W. and Lake Ave.) on Wednesday, March 19th at 1:30 p.m. Interment Fifty Cemetery.
