Obituary of Lorna J. Power

Peacefully at her residence in Stoney Creek with her beloved husband Doug by her side, on Saturday, February 22, 2014 in her 78th year. Loving mother and close friend to daughter, Lisa Power, son Brent Power and his wife Kathryn Yager, with 4 grandchildren and 4 great- grandchildren. Dear sister of Arthur Ferguson and wife Frances, and sister of Verlie Close (Ferguson). Survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by father Robert (Bobby) Ferguson, mother Helen (Ellen) Ferguson (Campbell). Brothers Terry, Alonzo (Lonnie) and Allister. Lorna loved the beauty of nature, especially fall colour and her plants. She was an accomplished oil and charcoal artist. Many have cherished her work in portraits. In her life Lorna and Doug were a smooth and graceful couple on the dance floor. They spent years dancing to “The Acadians” Her father’s Orchestra style dance band from Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. Joy came to Lorna through many friendships, young and old. Her faith and being a part of the church singing groups and friendship ministries brought her happiness. As an expression of sympathy, Lorna would be pleased that in lieu of flowers, that you please send or hand flowers to someone you love.
