Obituary of Charles Berkley Gilbert

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Charles on Thursday, February 13, 2014, at Juravinski Hospital in Hamilton, at the age of 88. Charles is now peacefully home with our Lord. Heaven has gained another angel but here on Earth we lost a well loved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend. Survived by his Wife of 64 years, Eileen; and five Children Elaine, Anthony (Laurie), Mark (Darlene), John (Vilma) and Jane (Andy); along with Grandchildren Tracy, Bruce (Alicia), Cory (Stephanie), Jodi, Julie and Peter, as well as Great-Grandchildren Logan, Mickayla and Oilivia. A loving, caring and gentle man who touched the hearts of many will be deeply missed. Charles retired from Canadian Drawn Steel after many years of loyal service. He was a passionate modeller. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the wonderful staff at Macassa Lodge. Visitation will be held at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Monday, February 17, 2014, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Cheyne Presbyterian Church, 7 King Street West, Stoney Creek, on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 11 a.m. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated by the family.
