Obituary of Patricia Ann O'Brien

Passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on December 14, 2013, at the age of 56. Patricia was the beloved daughter of Kathleen and the late Joseph O’Brien. She will be sadly missed by her four siblings Tom, Eileen (Kelly), Colleen (Sid), and John (Mary). “Aunt Patsy” was always the fun one and a very special aunt to her seven nieces and nephews Kristina, Jenell, Johnathan, Andrew, Joseph, Jacob, and Zoe whom she worshipped and always took a very active interest in their pursuits and hobbies. Patricia lived in Buffalo, New York for the past 20 years and will be greatly missed by her extraordinary friends on both sides of the border. A very special thanks to Deborah, Janice, Kim, Chris, JoJo, Billy, Fuzzy, Wayne, Dale, Brad and Marlene, along with many others for all their love and support during the past year throughout Patricia’s illness. You stuck with her always and to the end, and she loved you for it. Patricia was a registered nurse and started her career at Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto before moving to Buffalo. For the past year she loved being back in Stoney Creek, living at the shore, with her fabulous views of the lake from every window. Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek, on Wednesday, December 18 from 6-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will take place in the Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, December 19 at 1 p.m. Cremation to follow. A celebration of Patricia’s life will take place at the Powerhouse Restaurant, 21 Jones Street, Stoney Creek following the service from 2-4 p.m. Should you wish, in lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Joseph’s Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Patricia lived life on her own terms and did it her way to the very end… “One day at a time.” “Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in high heels in a cloud of smoke, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Woo Hoo- What a Ride!”
