Nancy & Richard Addington- Kushog Lake posted a condolence
Wednesday, August 4, 2010
We were saddened to hear that Mrs. Woodliffe, or Jean as she introduced herself, would no longer be spending her spring and summers at her beloved little green cottage. We knew her only a few short years but she made quite an impression. Although she grew more frail, her mind was amazingly perceptive. We never ceased to marvel at her zest for life and appreciation of the nature surrounding her. She never forgot our names and would often call through an open window to Richard to see if he wanted to read the Toronto Star once she had read it. Jean was the first to welcome us when we took possession of our cottage a few years ago. She extended a warm hand of friendship at that first meeting and a heartfelt hug every time we saw her. We will miss the stories of Kushog Lake and the people she knew. Jean was a remarkable lady who will always be fondly remembered in our family and sorely missed.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
Mrs. Woodliffe was a wonderful spirit who enjoyed good company, knowledge, laughing and the loons. She loved her family so much--always speaking fondly of everyone.
We always looked forward to our visit with her--she was always full of questions and wonder! We will miss her at the cottage.
Her 100th birthday book encompassed a life full of love, family and a a life full of abundant experiences!

Jean loved her cottage on Lake Kushog and stayed here every year from May to Thanksgiving, even last year when she was 101 years old. She enjoyed having neighbours drop in for a chat - we could find her any morning reading the Toronto Star and watching the hummingbirds in front of the picture window. She was amazing and we will miss her !

It was with great sadness that heard of your Mother's passing. She was my father's cousin and my wife and I enjoyed a lovely visit with Jean chatting about her younger years and the Ross family history. She surely was an inspiration to all who knew her.
