WILSON, Mary Anna
Mary Anna Wilson of Stoney Creek, Ontario, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 86 on Thursday, May 16, 2013, with her family by her side. Anna was born on October 27, 1926 in Jarvis, Ontario in the same room her father was born in on the family farm. She grew up in Simcoe and Hamilton, Ontario, and spent one year in Buffalo, NY, where her brother Ray was born. Anna married her school-girl crush, Reg Wilson, on September 20, 1947. Anna is pre-deceased by Reg, and survived by their four children - Susan (Brian) Burditt of Whitby, ON; Marsha Jacobs of Picton, ON; Daniel Wilson of Hamilton, ON; and Mark Wilson (Leslie) of Toronto, ON - as well as eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Anna was active in Girl Guides for many years with her good friend Connie Welbourn. She spent many a day on marches and at Camp Selkirk. Anna was an avid swimmer and spent many summers on life guard duties. She taught most of her grandchildren to swim and dive in the backyard pool on Stewartdale Ave. Anna was an avid Salvationist at the Argyle Corps for many years and later at Winterberry Heights. At the age of 41 she went to teacher's college, at the same time as her son-in-law Brian. She taught school until her retirement, after which she and Reg began wintering in Florida. As a grandmother she loved family get togethers, and was always the centre of activity for family outings, be it a picnic or a backyard barbecue. Every Christmas she loved to roast the turkey for her growing, extended family. A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Donald V.
