Obituary of Arthur C. Welbourn
WELBOURN, Arthur C.
Peacefully in his 88th year on Monday, February 27, 2012. Dearly loved husband for 68 years of Freda (nee Britton), devoted father of Tim and Beth, loving grandfather of Sean and Shannon, great-grandfather of Dakota. Art will be missed by his many friends including Art Bennett, Lou and Kay Popovic and Alison Murchie. He was admired by all and was a special uncle to numerous nephews and nieces. Predeceased by daughter-in-law Joanne, parents Arthur and Ruth, sisters Muriel, Ruth and Kay and brothers Roy and Bram. A proud WWII veteran, Art was stationed with the RCAF in Vancouver. On returning to Hamilton he rejoined the family construction business and was a well-respected builder in the area. Art was active in the scuba diving community and enjoyed a successful career as a goaltender for the Grimsby Peach Kings and the Burlington Mohawks in the 1940's-50's. Family and friends will be received at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Thursday, March 1, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, March 2, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. following a private family interment. Donations to Community Living Hamilton or the Charity of your choice in Art’s memory would be appreciated.
