Obituary of Aaltje (Alien) (nee Blanken) Vandennoort

VANDENNOORT, Aaltje (Alien) (nee Blanken) After a long battle, with various ailments that a wartime birth granted her, Aaltje (Alien) Vandennoort passed away peacefully at home on August 8, 2010 in her 67th year. Born in war ravaged Hasselt, the Netherlands, Alien made her way to Canada in 1967, which was supposed to be her first stop on her world tour. However, on this stop she found the man she loved, and a destiny creating a loving home in Canada that would allow her to touch numerous lives. Although her life gave her many challenges she found even greater happiness that allowed her to demonstrate her beautiful soul and massive heart through raising her family and nursing others for 39 years. She is lovingly remembered by her family, husband Wayne (Wietze) of 43 years, children and spouses Mark and Kelsey, Bert and Marnie, Maggie and Rodney Savoy, and grandchildren Mason, Connor, Zachary and one on the way. She is survived by her mother Albertje Blanken-Dekker, sisters Marie and Klaas Pieter Blok, Frieda and Gerrit Hartman and Beppie Blanken, and too many good friends to mention. She is predeceased by her father Jan, and brother Jaap. Alien knew that God loved her. As per Alien’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held at 500 Green Rd. Stoney Creek on August 15, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family. (DONALD V. BROWN FUNERAL HOME 905-662-2948)
