Obituary of Raymond Charles Trewin

TREWIN, Raymond Charles - Peacefully in his sleep in his 85th year at his home in Toronto on August 18, 2008. Dearly loved brother of Dorothy Thompson of Amherst NS, Douglas Trewin of Parrsboro NS, Marjorie Parker (Art) of Stoney Creek ON, Florence Kodis (Edmund) of Hamilton ON, Robert Trewin of Edmonton AB, and sister-in-law Marjorie Trewin of Charlottetown, PEI. Predeceased by his parents, William and Mary Trewin, brothers Henry Trewin (Evelyn), Arthur Trewin, sister Daisy Payne (Harry), brother-in-law Stanley Thompson and sisters-in-law Betty Trewin and Vicki Trewin. He was loved and will be remembered by many nieces and nephews across Canada. Raymond was a school teacher and then served in the Canadian Army during WWII. He was a graduate of Queen's University. He began his distinguished career with the Imperial Oil Company in 1952 in Employee Relations in Sarnia. Transfers and promotions took him to Edmonton, Calgary, Montreal and finally to Toronto. Raymond volunteered with several organizations across Toronto. Raymond loved the outdoors. He was an avid golfer, hiker, swimmer and traveller. In keeping with his wishes, cremation and interment have taken place. There will be a celebration of his life at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home (36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek) on Saturday, September 6th, 2008. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 11:30 a.m. with a service at 12:30 p.m. A reception at the Canadian Legion (King Street East, Stoney Creek) will follow. Donations in his memory can be made to the charity of your choice.
