Obituary of Dirk Jan Steenblik

STEENBLIK, Dirk Jan 1923-2013 On Thursday, November 21, 2013, Dirk Steenblik passed away in his 91st year. Predeceased by his wife Derkje in 2006. He is survived by his children Freda (George) Hellinga, Derk Steenblik/Gary Payne, Marion (Wayne) Lundy, Marlean Fuller. Loving grandchildren include Dianne (Bill) Hall, David (Laurie) Hellinga, Tim Lundy/Marnie Fitzgerald, Jason Lundy/Amanda Rundberg, Andrew Fuller/Sarah Taylor, Cheryl Fuller. Great-grandchildren include Dylan and Kristen Hall, Ruth Rundberg, Alice Lundy, Adam Hellinga. He will be missed by extended family in the Netherlands. Having lived a long life, he was the support of the family. He remained aware and communicative with his family until the end. Sincere heartfelt gratitude is extended to the staff and his caregivers for the wonderful support he received at Shalom Manor. Friends will be welcomed at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive Stoney Creek on Tuesday, November 26 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Fruitland Christian Reformed Church, 805 Hwy. 8, on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at 2 p.m. Interment to follow at Mountview Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Shalom Manor would be appreciated by the family.
