Obituary of Amy Olive Smithson

SMITHSON, Amy Olive (nee Nethersell) Born: February 25, 1916 Died: March 31, 2013 Amy Smithson went home to be with her Lord on March 31, 2013, peacefully at Queen's Gardens Long Term Care Facility. Amy is predeceased by her loving husband Walter Smithson and brother Frank Nethersell. She is survived by her sister Ivy Van Fleet, her son Paul Smithson (Laura), three grandsons, James (Heather), Matthew, and Joel as well as two great-grandchildren, Peyton and Loreil. Amy is also survived by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ron and Mary Smithson, and nieces and nephews. Amy was a member of Philpott Memorial Church, a former employee of Westinghouse Canada and a long time member of the Waddington's String Orchestra. A special thanks to the staff at Queen's Gardens Long Term Care Facility and St. Joseph's Hospital for their care and support. Visitation will be held at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Philpott Memorial Church, 84 York Boulevard, Hamilton on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 10 a.m. Private interment to follow.
