Obituary of Joseph Leslie Savage
SAVAGE, Joseph Leslie
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Joseph (Joe) Savage, on Tuesday June 28th, 2011, at the Empire Retirement Residence in North Bay. Joe was predeceased by his loving wife, the late Ivy (Parker) Savage in 2009. Dearly loved by his sister, Kitty Payne, in England, and nieces and nephews, Cindy (Yura), Andrea (Kevin), Laurie (Harry), Joyce, Carol (Rich), Lorraine (Ange), Wendy (Danny), Marilyn (Gerry), Douglas (Elaine), Patricia (Will), David (Blythe), Glenn (Paula) and many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews in Canada and in England. There is a whole generation of great-great nieces and nephews who will not have the wonderful opportunity to come to know and love Joe the way we all did.
Joe came over from England and worked as a Machinist at Siemens/Westinghouse in Hamilton for 27 years. Joe was the most selfless, caring, fun loving person – he was an inspiration to all who knew him. Joe and Ivy were the couple that everyone wanted to emulate. After two years they are together again!
Born October 1, 1917, Joe was raised in Sheffield, England. Joe and Ivy lived in the Niagara Region for their whole married life, first in Grimsby, then Vineland, then back to Grimsby before Joe moved to North Bay to be close to his family. Thank you to the caring staff at the Empire for becoming Joe’s extended family – you made his last years very memorable.
Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek, at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 12, 2011 until the time of the Service of Remembrance at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, Joe and his family would appreciate donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of your choice.
