Obituary of John Radvak

RADVAK, John At St. Joseph’s Hospital on Sunday, December 14, 2008, of Stoney Creek at the age of 87 years. Born March 17, 1921 in Olsinkov, Czechoslovakia, Dad immigrated to Canada, February 13, 1938 to Halifax, Nova Scotia and from there he took residence in Malartic, Quebec. Husband of the late Anne Radvak (nee Novak), married June 27, 1948. Loving father of John (Lorraine), Rosemary Vrscay (Ed), Joseph (late Marsha), Liana Kennedy (Blaine) and loving grandfather of 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Steve and his wife Clarisse. Predeceased by his parents John and Helena Radvak and by his brothers Bill and Andrew. Dad was a Proud Member of the 1st Battalion Black Watch Royal Highland Regiment who served during WW 2. He was an accomplished welder and a member of the Iron Workers Union for 54 years and was also a Proud Member of the Royal Canadian Legion “Jitter Bug Johnny” will be remembered for swinging his stand up bass and dancing the night away. Friends will be received at the DONALD V. BROWN FUNERAL HOME, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. Panachyda at the funeral home at 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Slovak Assumption Byzantine Catholic Church, 1406 Barton St. E., Hamilton on Friday, December 19 at 10 a.m. Cremation will follow.
