Obituary of James Poirier

POIRIER, James Peacefully passed away at Orchard Terrace Care Centre in Stoney Creek on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 in his 83rd year. Beloved husband of the late Shirley (nee Beaupre). Loved father of Perry and his wife Marguerite (nee Gionet). P-Pa will be dearly missed by his cherished grandchildren Adam, Samantha and Aaron. Dear brother of George, Mary and the late Edward. James served in the military in the Royal Winnipeg Rifles and the Royal Canadian Regiment and was a proud member of the Stoney Creek Legion. Following his military career, he worked as a welder at International Harvester. He was a fan of the Blue Jays and his beloved Montreal Canadiens. Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Vigil prayers 8:30 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at St. Francis Xavier Church, 304 Hwy. 8, Stoney Creek, on Monday, November 25, 2013 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Mountview Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.
