Obituary of Gerald Frederick Oakes

Oakes, Gerald Frederick 1923-2012 Peacefully on September 14, 2012 at Ridgeview LTCC in his 90th year. Beloved husband of Joyce for the past 65 years. Loving father of Geraldine, Betty Jean (Fred Theobald), Paul and Jeffrey. Cherished grandfather of Michael Rice, Andrew Oakes, Ashley Oakes and great-grandfather of Kyra, Ethan and James. Survived by his sisters Beverley McKinnon (the late Leslie) and Judy Oakes Bedford. Predeceased by his brother Alan and his wife Beverly. Special thanks to the staff at Ridgeview Long Term Care Centre for the exceptional care during his time there and even more so in the last few months. Jerry is a veteran of WWII serving from March 5, 1942 until February 12, 1946 with R.C.A.S.C. Jerry also worked at Proctor & Gamble in Hamilton with 35 years of service before his retirement. Friends will be received at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Thursday, September 20, 2012 from 11 until the time of service in the Funeral Home Chapel at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated.
