Obituary of John O’Brien

O’BRIEN, John Peacefully, with his family by his side, at Arbour Creek Long Term Care on Monday, November 12, 2012 in his 90th year. Beloved husband of Joan (nee Holbrook) of 59 years. Cherished father of the late Sean (Bev), Angela, Sheila, Michael (Kim). Loved grandfather of Deanna, Meagan, Mathew, Colin, the late Alanna, Kerry, Siobhan, Shona, the late Michael, Shannon and Vincent. Will be dearly missed by his brother Maurice, sister Mary, and many nieces and nephews and their families in both Ireland and England. Predeceased by his 3 brothers and 1 sister. John was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 7969 and an employee of Stelco for 25 years. Very special thanks to the wonderful staffs of Emergency, B3 and F5 at Juravinski Hospital, also Dr. Khambalia for his kind care over the years and Dr. Tuttle and staff of Arbour Creek LTC. Also, many sincere thanks to Fr. Martin Vallely of St. Francis Xavier Parish for his spiritual care at all times. Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Thursday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Vigil prayers at 4:30pm. Knights of Columbus prayer service at 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Parish, 304 Hwy. 8, Stoney Creek on Friday, November 16, 2012 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Our Lady of The Angels Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Good Shepherd would be greatly appreciated by the family.
