MITCHELL, William George
After a lengthy battle with cancer, and with his family by his side, our father William George Mitchell passed peacefully to be with his loving wife Juanita of 63 years on October 20 at the Bob Kemp Hospice. William was a proud father to Bert (Sue), Wendy Gillians (Steve), and Jana Campbell (Doug). Brother-in-law to Gayle. Cherished grandfather to Stacy, Susan (Chad), Shana (Dave), Brett (Caryn), Craig (Caroline), Grant, and Neil. Bill was also a proud great-grandfather to Brice, Gregory, Hayden, Travis, and two more on the way. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Bill’s third daughter Lori Raudnask, Dr. Myers for his care and compassion of their father over the last two years, and to the Bob Kemp Hospice for making the last two weeks so comfortable and dignified for Dad. He was a devoted community volunteer and had a passion for local charitable organizations in Stoney Creek, being a founding member of both the Stoney Creek Outreach Program and the Canadian Association of Watch Fob Collectors. He received the Queens Jubilee Medal for outstanding achievement to his country and local organizations. Bill was also awarded the 2001 Stoney Creek Citizen of the Year Award for his outstanding commitment to the local community. He was a long time member and past President of the Stoney Creek Historical Society, and a 23 year member with the Boy Scouts of Canada (recipient of Woodmans Badge for long-standing service in Scouting). Visitation will take place on Wednesday, October 23 from 7-9 p.m., and on Thursday, October 24 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.at the Donald V. Brow Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek. A service to celebrate the life of Bill will take place in the Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, October 25 at 10 a.m. Cremation to follow. Inurnment to follow on Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. at Hamilton Cemetery, 777 York Boulevard. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice and the Stoney Creek Outreach Program would be greatly appreciated by the family. Online condolences may be left at www.donaldvbrown.ca
