Deitz, J. Raymond BA BD MTh
1927-2015
Passed into the presence of His Lord at Heritage House, St. Jacobs, Tuesday evening, September 1, 2015, in his 88th year. Beloved husband of Anita R. Deitz, and much loved father of Miriam (Javier Gomez) and Graham, and loving grandfather of Dakota and Ciara. Ray served the Lord faithfully for over 75 years in word and music, first as a young man in his home church Delta Tabernacle in Hamilton, teaching Sunday School and playing violin in the church orchestra, then later the Hamilton Philharmonic, until his McMaster convocation in 1950. Following graduation and marriage to Anita that year, the couple musically ministered for the Lord in the Saint Paul College Choral Club as violinist and pianist while Ray studied at Bethel Seminary. Upon graduation from Bethel in 1954, Ray was ordained as a Christian and Missionary Alliance pastor and lovingly served the Lord for over 28 years in various Alliance churches in Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto and Windsor. While ministering he remained a lifelong student of God's word studying at both McGill and U of T. In 1982 he accepted a call to teach Ancient Greek and New Testament studies at Emmanuel Bible College in Kitchener and was a professor there until his retirement in 1998. Ray will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A memorial service will be held at Bethany Missionary Church on Sunday, October 4, at 1:30 p.m., located at 160 Lancaster Street East, Kitchener. Ray's family will receive friends in the fellowship room at the church between 1:00 - 1:30 p.m. Online condolences may be made at www.donaldvbrown.ca
