Obituary of Lawrence Harold Miller

MILLER, Lawrence Harold “Larry” After a very long illness, on Saturday June 12, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Hamilton, at the age of 78. Larry was predeceased by his wife Bonnie of 51 years. Left to mourn are daughters Gail MacLellan and Cheryl Miller and her fiancé Larry Nelles. Will be profoundly missed by his companion Joan Hunter and her family, as well as his brother John, his Aunt Sophie and their families, cousins, nieces and nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law in Canada and the USA. He is predeceased by his parents Stan and Ann Miller, sister Joyce and her husband Jack Bradt, son-in-law Peter MacLellan, Joan’s son and Cheryl’s brother Jerry McAvella. Larry was a long time proprietor of Larry Miller Shell Station; he had different locations in Hamilton, but is probably best remembered by his many years at the corner of Burlington and Ottawa and, before his early retirement, at Melvin and Woodward. He was also in the trucking and fuel delivery business. Larry had some good friends that he highly respected and enjoyed their company; long time friends John and Joan O’Brien and in the last few years of his life-Wed and Theresa Bonter, Dennis McGhee, nephew Daryl Bradt and his son Corey Bradt, Bobby Lipnicky, John Baronowski and Colin Telfer. These men of various ages were very special to Larry, especially as it became more difficult for Larry to get around. These were his buddies who helped him physically and always made him smile, thanks guys-you meant a lot to him. Which means a lot to us. Our thanks to Dr. Brimble, Dr. Lummack and the nursing staff of St. Joe’s Dialysis, Nephrology and CCU. Our deepest thanks to Father Jeff Bergsma, formerly of St. Francis Xavier Parish, and of course Pastor of St. Francis, Rev. Martin Vallely. Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Friday, June 18th from 9 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Service in the Funeral Home Chapel at 10 a.m. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In Larry’s memory, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Kidney Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences may be sent at www.donaldvbrown.ca.
