Obituary of David Robertson McLeod

McLEOD, David Robertson 1919-2013 On February 24, 2013 in his 95th year, passed away peacefully at his beach home surrounded by loving wife Dorothy, 5 daughters and many family members. David is predeceased by infant daughter Cheryl Dianne, survived by wife Dorothy, dear father of daughters Bobbie (Harold), Carole (Bill), Katie (Marinus), June (Scott), Susan (Bruce), 20 grandchildren, 22½ great-grandchildren, sister Jean Murray, sister-in-law Margie McLeod and brother-in-law Cliff Penaligon. Dave lived a long magical life sharing 70 years of love and dedication to the love of his life and best friend Dorothy, 5 loving daughters and their families. Dave’s passions were his beach residence, century boats, travelling, and Chrysler convertibles. He was a prominent and well respected businessman, owner with brother Gilbert of McLeod Motors and McLeod School Bus Lines in Stoney Creek. He was past Master of the T.H. Simpson Lodge and active in the Stoney Creek Men’s Club. Dave was an inspiration and example of how to live a full life in honour and dignity. A heartfelt thanks to Dave’s health care providers whose dedication and care were much appreciated and to the gang at Shoppers Drug Mart Pharmacy and Dr. Scott Wooder. Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Stoney Creek United Church (corner of Lake Ave. & King St.) on Friday, March 1, 2013 at 1 p.m. Interment to follow at Stoney Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Alzheimer Society or Stoney Creek United Church in Dave’s honour.
