I worked with Murray (he liked to call himself ‘The Chief Bohunk’) for a number of years in CBC TV Sports. He was always a guy you could count on to help find material in the videotape library. Our friend’s painstakingly accurate work sure was appreciated.
He really enjoyed Kentucky Fried Chicken. When he found the store near his hotel during the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, he was ecstatic. I think the clerks may have all known him by name.
Murray started the departmental golf tournament in the late 80’s and when searching for an appropriate trophy, someone (I think it was Jamie Campbell) found the perfect item to honour him - a bucket from KFC. Every year the names of the day’s winners were written on the side…and the original bucket of original recipe is still used today.
I also remember when he won his first chess game against ‘that stupid computer’ on his desk. He was pretty happy.
My condolences go to all of his loved family. He was a very nice man.
