Obituary of Elizabeth Jane McColl

McCOLL, Elizabeth Jane (Betsy) At St. Peter’s Hospital, Hamilton, on Friday, April 22, 2011 at the age of 60 with her family by her side. Betsy was born in St. Thomas, Ontario to the late Alex D. McColl and Edith M. McColl (nee Hoag). She will be missed by her husband Warren Mills and his sons Warren Jr. Mills and his wife Christine and their sons Sebastian and Alexander, and Matthew Mills and his wife Barb. Survived by her sister Kathy McColl and her husband Bob Wheatcroft and brother Don McColl. Betsy was raised in St. Thomas and attended the University of Western Ontario and teachers college in Toronto before returning to St. Thomas where she taught elementary school for several years. She later taught at Sir Isaac Brock and W. H. Ballard Elementary School in Hamilton until her retirement. Betsy had a Master of Education from Brock University and also several special education qualifications. She loved to travel and spend time being a wonderful Granny to Sebastian and Alexander. Her vivaciousness and generosity of spirit will stay forever with everyone whose lives she touched. She will be forever cherished. Cremation has taken place. There will be a private family interment and reception at a later date. The family would like to thank Doctors M. Levy, B. Heller, P. Powers and A. Crosthwaite for their care and compassion. Special thanks to the nursing staff of St. Peter’s Hospital, including Debbie, Helena and Mary Anne.
