Obituary of Herbert Frederick (Fred) Matthews

MATTHEWS, Herbert Frederick (Fred) After a lengthy illness, Fred passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital, on Wednesday, May 4, 2011, in his 65th year. Beloved husband of Barbara. Loving father of Christine and Katherine, Michael Ellis (Angie) and Steven Ellis (Jennifer). Cherished grandfather of Madison and Anastasia. Dear brother of June (Jack Hopper) and Helen (Ken Hall) and the late Marilyn. Loved uncle of Susan Ramey, Cheryl (Steve Ashford), Debbie MacLeod and Don Coldwell. Also survived by his father-in-law Stewart Russell, brothers and sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews in the Russell family. Fred was a Lifetime Member of the Naval Veterans Association. Special thanks to the C.C.U. Staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital, for all of their compassion and care. The Funeral Service will be held at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Saturday, May 7th at 2 p.m. with visitation one hour prior. Cremation to follow.
