Obituary of James M. Smith

SMITH, James M. January 1, 1943 – September 16, 2015 Jim passed away in his 73rd year, on September 16, surrounded by his loving family at Victoria Hospital in London, ON. Husband and best friend to Carol (Masney) for 53 years. Beloved father to Jeff (Lisa), Mike (Laura) and Shari (Jeff Baago). Loving grandfather to Brittany, Chloe, Brent, Jimmy, Bradley, Jonny, Olivia and Will. Brother of Murray, Cleve, Ardele (Carman) and sister-in-law Sandy. Predeceased by his parents Elnor and Roy Smith, in-laws Adele and Mike Masney and sister-in-law Jan. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews. Jim loved his family , sports , coaching and volunteering. He coached Glanbrook Minor and OMHA hockey and little league baseball. Jim was also a Kinsman and a volunteer with the Binbrook Fire Department. Jim was a retiree of Dofasco and was very proud of his 29 years of service. Retired in 1993 and moved to Wiarton, ON, in 1995 where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also a member of the Wiarton Legion. Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Friday from 6-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Kidney Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
