Obituary of Josephine ‘Josie’ Marchis

MARCHIS, Josephine ‘Josie’ (nee Cherwaty) November 13, 1918 – August 31, 2011 At St. Peter’s Hospital, in her 93rd year, our social butterfly fluttered up to heaven to be reunited with her beloved husband Frank (1986). Loving mother of John Marchis (Joanne 2009) and Donna Millen (David). Proud gramma to Matthew Marchis (Carolyn), Michelle Millen, Jamie Swinarchin (Raymond) and Jennifer Plenderleith (Bob). Cherished great-gramma to Alexia and Elizabeth, Colson and Graydon, and Rhys. Predeceased by her sister Helen Cicci and her brothers Walter, Joseph and Stephen Cherwaty. She will be sadly missed by her many friends, neighbours and relatives. Josie will be remembered for her generous spirit, infectious laughter and her social nature. Family and friends will be received at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Vigil Service at 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated from St. Francis Xavier Parish, 304 Hwy. 8, Stoney Creek on Saturday at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Hamilton.
