Obituary of Lloyd Manders

MANDERS, Lloyd 1931-2012 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lloyd on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at the age of 81. Predeceased by his beloved wife Jeanne after 54 years of marriage. Devoted father of Christopher (Anne), Patti-Ann (Paul), Deborah (Danny), John (Linda), Sandra (Carl) and Lisa (Steve). Loving grandfather of 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Lloyd will be missed by his siblings Ruth, Loella, Elsie, Zita and Barclay, as well as his many friends. He was predeceased by his parents Samuel and Mildred, his sister Lois and two brothers Samuel and Kelvin. Lloyd was a welder by trade and worked for 30 years at Dofasco in Hamilton to raise his family. Lloyd filled his retirement years visiting the family homestead in Chapeau, Quebec, tinkering in his garage, “turning wood” (making bowls, bird houses, ornaments and other wooden surprises). Lloyd also enjoyed a good game of cards... on occasion adopting the odd “skunk” (or two). Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek, Ontario on Thursday, January 3, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Vigil prayers 3:30pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church, 304 Hwy. 8, Stoney Creek, Ontario, on Friday, January 4, 2013 at 10 a.m. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation to the Juravinski Cancer Centre or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences may be made at www.donaldvbrown.ca
