Obituary of Joseph P. Maguire

MAGUIRE, Joseph P. Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at the age of 87. Beloved husband of Margaret (nee Obermeyer) for 44 years. Cherished father of Dan and his wife Rebecca Maguire. Loving grandfather of Felicia and Ashley. Survived by his loving sister Catherine “Mickie” (the late John) Greer, sisters-in-law Anne Maguire, Moyra Obermeyer, Elaine (Robert) Moore and brother-in-law James Cummings. Predeceased by siblings James (Winnifred), Mary (John) Smith, John, Charles (Thelma), Patricia Cummings, Walter, brother-in-law Bob Obermeyer and sister-in-law Maureen (Larry) Jennings. A devoted uncle to his many nephews and nieces. Joe was a dedicated employee of International Harvester for 45 years. He was also a member of St. Francis Xavier choir for many years. Joe will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to have known him. A special thank you to the caregivers at Clarion Nursing Home for your care and service throughout his stay. Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Vigil prayers 3:30pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. Cremation to follow. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.
