The gates of heaven have long awaited the arrival of our beloved Warren MacPhie, on Sunday, November 4, 2012, in his 92nd year, to receive yet another special angel. He will first be greeted by the love of his life, married 48 years to Lily (Foxcroft), and his firstborn grandson Kelly Ryan, after being separated by their passing for 17 years. Next in line, will be his parents, Harriet and Eldred and eldest brother Douglas. There will be a grand procession in heaven, many miles long as all of Warren's beloved family members, friends and war veterans who waited to greet him and celebrate this long awaited reunion and will be rejoicing in their friendships. Warren was born on June 6, 1921 in Hopewell, Nova Scotia. After WWII serving 6 years with the Nova Scotia Highlanders and the First Special Service Force, Warren moved to Ontario. He spent 38 years working at Westinghouse Canada. He met his loving wife Lily and started their family. Father to his son Douglas MacPhie and his wife Elaine, and daughter Ellen. Grandfather to Kelly Ryan, Christopher Reid and Timothy David. The loss of his friendship will be sadly missed by the Foxcroft, MacLean and Johnson families as well as many other friends from far and near. Special mention of his lifelong friends Jim Smythe, Jean MacKenzie and Doris Young. Special mention of gratitude to all of the staff at Abbington Court Retirement Residence who cared for him for five years and staff on 8 West at the Hamilton General Hospital. In his retirement, Warren was an active member of the Stoney Creek Optimist Club and made many contributions to the Stoney Creek community. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, November 8th and Funeral to follow on Friday, November 9th at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations to the Ronald McDonald House and to 8 West Unit at the Hamilton General Hospital would be greatly appreciated by the family. www.donaldvbrown.ca
